Happy Easter

On Easter Morning Andy and I woke up to Dane yelling from his room at 6:30am that the Easter Bunny came and ate all the carrots. I took him downstairs to see the basket left for him. He ate a couple pieces of candy and went back to bed...notice it's still dark outside:

...but he didn't sleep and ended up in bed with Andy when I was in the shower. Nothing is better than climbing into bed with Daddy and watching Tom & Jerry!

It snowed most of the day; this is what we woke up to:

Before church I let them both have some sweets, Drake wasn't fully awake, but I'm sure the sugar-high helped.

After church I was still trying to feel "Springy" so I made butterflies out of the boys' hands and feet. I trace their little bodies so much they don't even notice. Even outside I use sidewalk chalk and trace their whole bodies...it looks like a crime scene when I get done.

As a side note, we escaped the floods. Road closings were all around us and completely made our commutes to work, store, doctor, etc a pain. But no complaints here, we were spared evacuation. So, no JeNae, we didn't have to pair up and get on the Ark!

Hope you and yours had a great Easter. Here's a couple other shots from Easter Weekend...

Almost Easter

We're preparing for Easter at our house. We've colored eggs 2x and because our 2 Easter Egg hunts yesterday got rained out we had one in our home. Then we went and met the Easter Bunny and took the boys' picture. No crying this time :) Not even a pout face :) :) :) Drake walked right up to him and Dane followed closely behind with his hand on his back acting like he's the big brother leading Drake to a new experience.

Today at church the boys had another Easter Egg hunt.

We've been trying to explain what Easter is...Jesus dying on the cross, being raised from the tomb on Sunday, etc. It's quite a difficult concept for a 3 year old to grasp (Adults too for that matter). First he asked over and over why he died and then he wanted to know where and what Heaven looks like. Then he asked if his Daddy (God) was sad when he died. All very good questions.

Now Dane tells me he died and came back to life: I'm loving every innocent minute of their lives.

Spring yet?

We had one more 70 degree day before another blast of cold and wet. We took T-Bone to the vet and spent a couple hours at the park near the train tracks (fun every time a train came) and then we came home and made a caravan of boxes...cheap and easy entertainment...next year Santa is bringing them empty boxes, bungie cords and paperclips for me to hook up steering wheels. Notice the paint job they did with sidewalk chalk. There's three coaches because Dane insisted Bear and Bear's Bear had to have one. I remember being so attached to my stuffed dog, Waffles Woof Woof. I just knew he loved me as much as I loved him and he had feelings too. It's neat to watch Dane being tender with his bears: tucking them into bed, getting them juice, brushing their teeth...
We ended the day on the deck BBQing and eating dinner with Andy. A great day just before we "Got" to spend another day "together" in the house.

Should we grab our coat?

We've had an unbelievable amount of variety in our weather over the last week. Sunday the boys are in shorts playing, Monday it ices, Tuesday we get 10 inches of snow, Wednesday and Thursday it melts off. Down below 20 degrees over the weekend and tomorrow it's 70 degrees again. I enjoy the variety and I'll never say I'm tired of snow because I'll never have a 1 and 3 year old in the snow again, but I am loking forward to shorts again. However, one more good snow would be okay. Here's a couple pictures of us playing, Dane sleeping in his new tent from Aunt Kathy, Dane pulling Drake in a babydoll stroller and my pititful attempt at a snowman.

All 4 of "D" Boys

Last week Andy had to be in Jeff City for business Thursday and Friday. We stayed with our good friends Mike and Dana and their two boys, Dallas(5) and Dillan(3). I called everyone the wrong name the whole time I was there. I was the only one not starting with a "D"...Dallas, Dillan, Dane, Drake, 2 Daddies and Dana! Thursday I met up with Jennifer and Emily for lunch. Dane and Drake did so good...we even got to eat dessert because they did so well. That night Dana volunteered at her church and Mike had to work so we(Andy & I) stayed home with all 4 of them.
We had loads of fun:
Eating the BBQ Andy made

making and eating cupcakes

and of course taking a much needed bath, it took several shots to get this PG rated version...thank goodness for digital cameras :)

And here's the green man in Dana's plant by her bathtub; I'm not sure which boy put him there.

We ended the evening with popcorn and a movie (Shrek). They are all so adorable in their PJ's!

Friday Dillan stayed home from daycare with me and I took the three youngest boys (Dallas had kindergarden) to the train station, a Thomas the Train toy store and then the Runge Nature Center where Andy's training was. It was a beautiful day....it's unbelievable that I didn't take one single picture...even at the train station!

I can't wait to visit again. Second to seeing some dear friends, my highlight was watching (and cheering on) all 4 of the boys (even Drake) wrestling with Andy. Of course the camera was not close for those exciting shots.

Construction Site or Play Ground?

Andy is making/installing wall to wall and floor to ceiling bookshelves in our study on one wall. In the mean time Dane and Drake have found a new place to play. I think they are going stir crazy with all the ice and snow we're having and aren't able to get out of the house or away from each other. This is togetherness at it's best *smile*

Here is Drake playing hide and seek in the wall desk in our breakfast nook. He likes to get in there and close the door completely and knock on it. I'll pretend with Dane that we can't find him and we can hear him giggling. Dane doesn't understand yet, that I really DO know where Drake is and he'll open the door while saying "He's in here mommmy!"
