What's that smell?

I know, by the title of this entry, you're probably thinking...duh! You have a baby in diapers and another one potty training...Well, you're way off base...here's how our evening went....

After Andy came home from work and we ate dinner, we went for our usual walk. It was dark on our way home and T-Bone was doing his normal scurrying around everything. When suddenly we smelled this strong odor. Andy says, "What's that smell?" I reply, "I think it's garlic." Don't ask me why, but that's the 1st thing that came to my mind and it was near our neighbors culvert and I thought they may have put it in there to ward off critters. Much like the racoon critters that climb up two decks and eat my humming bird feed...anyway, the smell was horrible and we concluded it was a skunk and realized we both heard a spraying/hissing sound shortly before we smelled it.

So we're thinking, "Wow, T-Bone really stinks" and he's running around and rubbing in the grass...but wait...WE stink too! As does Dane and Drake, the stroller, the diaper bag in the stroller, etc. So we hurry home in a gagging fashion. There's humor here; imagine Andy pushing the stroller with both boys in it and trying to hold his shirt over his nose so he won't gag. Meanwhile I'm still trying to get T-Bone to hold still so I can see if it's really him that stinks and then once I get a good whiff of him, I proceed to gag.

So we make it home and while I put both boys in the bath immediately, Andy throws all of our clothes in wash and jumps in the shower himself. When he's done he takes over with the boys' baths and I proceed to give T-Bone a bath. I go out there and poor little guy has puked on our front porch and has pink pukey drool hanging from his mouth. This of course makes my natural gag reflex kick in...AGAIN (oh, if I could have been a fly on the wall)...after 2 good washings (outside, of course) he still stinks. I go upstairs and take a shower, Andy looks up some concoction on the internet involving peroxide, baking soda and dishwashing soap and goes and gives it a try on our poor dog.

T-Bone is smelling better, it's almost 11pm and I just finished drying him off. He's in the garage. *sniff* First time in his whole 8 years of life that he hasn't slept either in my bed or beside my bed. I feel bad for ya pup, but you stink!

Oh, and the kicker...today while the boys were swimming I gave T-Bone his very 1st bath at our new house....figures!

Here's some cute pictures of Dane and Drake at the park this morning.

who's your teddy?

On our way to church this morning we were stopped by a huge tree blocking our only way out of our subdivision...so much for 4-wheel drive; our Durango slipped on wet grass trying to go around it! So we backed all the way home and as Andy and Dane headed to our neighbors with their chain saws, I called Larry and Sharon to tell them about the new batch of firewood they were about to acquire.

So you're asking what does that have to do with teddy bears? NOTHING, I was just giving you an update on our morning and thought I'd throw in a picture of Dane's little pride and joys...much like me, he totes them around in a stroller, shares juice and snacks and tucks them into bed and threatens to take away the binky if they don't quit yelling from bed. Dane took this picture Tuesday while I was working on the computer and he asked me to hold them while he made their lunch!

What now?

With the 4th and final birthday over (at our house we like to cram as much as we can within a short period of time; all 4 of us got a year older from Aug 11th-Sept 2nd), do we relax? NO, of course not! We go to the zoo...again! Here's some cute pictures from Labor Day. I was able to get another mom there to take a family picture of us...I'm sure she understood how difficult it is to get the whole family in a shot...so she obliged with a smile.

Dane's 3rd birthday party

Yesterday we had Dane's party at the "Train Station". We prepared him for weeks and he helped us do his "registry", etc, etc. So when Saturday finally came we didn't really tell him it wasn't his birthday because we didn't think he'd get it...and we were right! Today before church we sang happy birthday to him (because today IS his birthday) and he informed us his birthday was yesterday. We tried explaining that yesterday was his party, but today is really is birthday and he reminded US that his birthday is over!

So about this party of his....it was at a local train station set up with all Thomas the Train theme stuff. For one fee they provided 2 private rooms for us...one to break open the train-shaped piniata filled with Toddler type candy, open gifts and eat the train cake with train-themed plates and cups and then the other room to play with a huge set-up of Thomas the Train tracks and cars. A fun-filled two hours for toddlers! Afterwards he got to stamp the wall with his handprint among all the other little hands that celebrated their birthdays there too. We had to bribe him to do that part because he doesn't like his hands being "icky".

Afterwards we went to the St. Louis County Air Show...not far from our house and we just set up lawn chairs and watched the plains fly over, around, past, up, behind, etc. Over-all a good day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANE!
