Hands of Change

Last year we started a tradition in the guest bedroom.

This year the boys continued it. They got to pick out the color they wanted, which hand to use and where they were going to place the hand prints. So since they chose hand-stamping the "yellow bedroom" tonight, I guess tomorrow we're going to make noodle necklaces out of all the different pasta shapes I bought.

Sharing chores

Sharing is hard at our house, even for me sometimes...that's why when we built our house I insisted on a double vanity. Where was I going with this entry?...oh, yes...sharing chores.

One of Dane's important jobs is to feed T-Bone. He is now doing the brotherly thing and showing Drake how to do it. Drake is getting a kick out of it. T-Bone waits patiently and picks up the scraps while it takes an eternity (Times 7 in dog years) to fill his dish.

All done, say, "CHEESE"!

Doing the fall thing...

Last weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to an apple orchard in Illinois (Eckert's). There was loads of stuff to do. Complete with pig races...and yes, I cheered with Dane as the little squeekers ran by. Drake just stood there with his mouth open. The night ended with a bonfire and (not-so) haunted hay ride. At one point a tracter started following our wagon and Dane said, "That's Frank". That's directly from the Disney movie Cars.

This weekend was beautiful also; we spent it outside until bedtime every day. Friday we made a whole town with chalk on our concrete and went for a walk and collected colorful leaves and more walnuts. Saturday we went to a BBQ and bonfire with all of our neighbors from our previous subdivision. After church today we went with our friends to another pumpkin patch and this time got our pumpkin for the year. Notice Dane and Drake eating the apples from last weekend.
Aspen is the little girl with us; Dane and Drake both dote on her every time we are with her...so cute

Dane's 1st time hunting

Andy got a new bow for his birthday and in turn Dane wanted one too...He stores it where Andy stores his and practices when Andy practices. He's also been bugging Andy about taking him hunting. Andy agreed to take him early one morning. It was like Christmas at our house that next morning. Dane woke up super early and said he was ready to go. They got dressed up and headed out.

They were out for atleast an hour. Dane came back excitedly telling me how they saw a mommy dear and told me where she ran.

I'm surprised they even saw one. Actually Andy has gone out alot since the season opened and THAT is the only time he's seen one. Well, that's not exactly accurate. We've seen many deer from our house...never when we're hunting, always during breakfast or as we're leaving to go somewhere!

With fall here, we picked our last batch of wild flowers on a walk last week. Now we're picking wal-nuts and very soon the many colored leaves.
